Arkansas top court orders stay on disclosure of execution drugs

El Salvador ex-president faces corruption trial

ordered former president Francisco Flores to stand trial on corruption
charges. Flores is charged [Guardian report] with embezzlement and
illegal enrichment for allegedly diverting USD $15 million from
Taiwanese donation to his personal and political bank accounts. The

Dominican Republic high court restores total abortion ban

A Dominican court on Wednesday
blocked a new law that would have decriminalized abortion if a pregnant
woman's life was at risk, thus reinstating a total ban on abortion
within the country. The Constitutional Tribunal's ruling, which upholds a

Hungary challenges EU refugee distribution system

filed a challenge [press release, in Hungarian] in the European Court
of Justice to the EU's quota plan that will distribute refugees
throughout the member states. Hungary's Prime Minister Viktor Orban
believes that migrants pose a threat to the nation after the attacks in

Ecuador lawmakers end presidential term limits

passed a constitutional amendment lifting presidential term limits,
beginning in 2021. The 16 constitutional amendments were approved in a

UN rights expert stresses role of human rights in climate change negotiations
